Given the discrete Radeon already in there (and in the previous model), it would surprise me to see any performance boost that is more than a tiny uptick. If someone has one, I'd love to see similar DAW tests to what OP posted.

Depending on what exactly they are of course.But a Macbook Pro with a discrete GPU (not one in the CPU package), and modern enough to be able to use an eGPU? For the current generation, that's only the Macbook Pro 16"

I'd expect PC laptops to possibly deal with this a little bit better. I consider this a fact and it's not uncommon at all.

I'm not sure why you can see graphics struggle in some cases, but some DAWs use graphics in a way that does spike GPU use under some circumstances. Maybe you've misunderstood what I was getting at.ĭepending on what people use I maintain this is potentially a real problem, for some machines of some models at least.
